So I’ve got this thing now where if I’m working on a cosplay, decide to research a component of it, and find nothing, that I just need to do something to fill in that information gap. As you can see, the latest instance was Aoba’s jacket, so here is my latest contribution to the internet’s vast store of cosplay knowledge!
Please note: I am extremely experimental when it comes to making cosplay, and very much a “I wonder what happens if you do this??”/let’s-push-the-big-red-button kind of crafter, so my methods MIGHT NOT WORK FOR YOU. I really hope that they do, but I just wanted to put a warning out there nonetheless!

Non-Permanent Horn Attachment Method

even though I don’t cosplay homestuck as much as I used to, I wanted to share how I used to attach my horns (I’ve mentioned it a lot before and gotten a lot of confusion, so I guess it’s time to demonstrate)!! I’ve used this method for terezi, nepeta, feferi, vriska, kanaya, and even damara horns!! I’d use this method for literally any troll’s horns other than tavros tbh… but if your horns are small/light this method is cheap, secure, and not permanently affixed to your wig, meaning you can reuse your horns and wig! you’ll need:

  • envelope fasteners/brads (these things; you can find them at your office supply store or walmart/target) the longer the better!
  • thin cardstock/cardboard
  • glue (i just use hot glue)
  • something sharp to poke holes in the cardboard with

it’s pretty self explanatory w just that pic, but if you want, read more for details!!

I found a little thing for any of my followers who might cosplay but are on a budget (or just want them even)
I know that quite a few outfits require out-there lip colors and I’ve seen posts going around with lipstick but most are like $16 and I’ve also tried making some out of crayons and that was….. an experience.

But I just found these Kleancolor lipsticks for $1 online.
I haven’t personally tried them yet but from reviews I’ve seen they work for the price. Especially if you only need it for a few hours, it doesn’t have to be super quality.
If you want to see reviews just google or youtube “Kleancolor review” and you’ll find dozens.

As for the links:

Quite a few are out of stock right now but you can try amazon as well

The website has a lot of cheap brands of makeup for $1 and a lot of youtubers (where I heard of it from) have ordered from them so it seems reputable. I just thought I would put that out there for anyone who was interested!
